Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a significant role in the Indian economy. West Bengal holds the second position among the states in India with respect to the number of units and employment in the MSME Sector. This paper emphasizes the ranking of districts of West Bengal in terms of growth rate calculated on the basis of these two above-stated parameters- the number of units established and employment generated in the MSME Sector, which are considered as development parameters in this study. Further, the study highlights whether the overall economic environment, individual entrepreneurial capability and geographical diversity of the districts of West Bengal have any impact on these development parameters or not.
